About Us
Leonard Ealey
Welcome to Pekin Public Schools District 108!
I grew up in Metamora, Illinois, and graduated from high school in 1985. I began my studies in accounting at Illinois Central College, but my experience volunteering at Riverview Grade School in Spring Bay, IL, inspired me to change my focus to education. Initially aiming for high school education, I eventually settled on middle school education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University in 1996. I completed my student teaching internship in San Antonio, TX.
My teaching career began in North Pekin-Marquette Heights District #102. In 1997, I joined District 108 as a social studies teacher at Edison Junior High School. After three years, I earned a Master of Science degree and became the assistant principal at Wilson Intermediate School. In 2002, I was appointed principal of L.E. Starke Primary School, and in 2005, I returned to Edison Junior High School as principal. In 2008, I became the assistant superintendent, a role I held for 15 years. The 2023-2024 school year marks my first year as Superintendent of Schools.
I am actively involved in several local and state organizations and committees. I have been a proud Pekin Rotarian since 2008, serving two terms as president and currently chairing the New Generations committee. I was honored with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Additionally, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Pekin Salvation Army and FamilyCore in Peoria, Illinois.
My immediate family includes my wife, Stacie, our three children, and our two dogs. I feel very fortunate to be part of the education profession and Pekin #108, and I look forward to continuing to serve the students and families of Pekin.
