Summer Professional Development Opportunities
New - Mentoring Class 2013: If the shoe fits....try it on! In this two day class you will learn more about how to become a "matched pair" in mentoring a student teacher or intern. You will learn how this can help you and your pre-service teacher to grow together. You will learn how to develop strong mentor/mentee relationships, work with your mentee to help them become a better teacher, how to have difficult conversations with your mentee, fine tune your mentoring skills, and grow in your own teaching.

Autism: This session will provide a brief overview of autism. We will discuss common characteristics of autism and how that affects students in the school setting. Strategies to help students in the regular education and special education classroom will be provided. Environmental supports, behavior supports, sensory supports and visual supports will be discussed. Participants are encouraged to bring examples of actual situations with students with autism for problem-solving during the session. Resources for participants will also be provided.
