Scott Altman Primary School was originally named Sunset Hills Elementary School and was established in the neighborhood of Sunset Hills in 1962. It was renamed to Scott Altman Primary on September 11th, 2010 after the famous Pekin native, Scott D. Altman. Scott Altman, a former student of Pekin Public School District 108, was a United States Navy Fighter Officer who has received countless awards for his service to his country.  In further service to his country and the advancement of all mankind, Scott Altman was selected to NASA Astronaut program, where he subsequently piloted two space shuttle missions, and commanded two additional missions, logging a total of over 51 days in space.
